Session 1 Options

Dive Into Teaching Standard 4: Teachers Facilitate Learning for their Students - Dr. Lisa M. Amerson, NCDPI
During this interactive session, participants will learn more about teacher expectations for facilitating learning for their students. We will review the North Carolina Teacher Evaluation Process and complete a close reading of the eight elements in the North Carolina Professional Teaching Standard IV. We will then take a deep dive into the wording of the descriptors and analyze evidences and behaviors that would demonstrate proficiency. Administrators will create a personal goal related to standard 4 and design a plan for achieving it during the next school year.

MTSS for Leaders: Leveraging the Power of MTSS in Your School - Karmen Mills, NCDPI
In this session administrators will get a brief introduction to a Multi-Tiered System of Support as a School Improvement Framework. The roles of leaders within the school will be discussed as well as ways to leverage your role by: (1) Developing and Communicating a Vision; (2) Cultivating Leadership Teams; and (3) Providing Ongoing Support. In addition, participants will leave with resources and tools to assist with developing a Master Schedule and an effective Professional Development/Coaching Plan to support implementation of MTSS.

Session 2 Options
Strategic Instructional Planning - Dr. Judy Goins, NCDPI
This session will focus on the "how" and "why" of strategic instructional planning, the difference between planning and the plan, and the role of depth of knowledge in developing highly engaging teaching and learning opportunities. Participants will also discuss the framework for supporting teachers in building their capacity to plan and implement instructional frameworks that are targeted, focused, and intentional.
